Recipient of the Atlas Workshops Prize for Postproduction – Marrakech International Film Festival

As part of the project, ecological and sustainable production methods were implemented in accordance with the Green Filming Guidelines of the Austrian Film Institute. Measures have been taken to reduce CO2 and resource consumption and to produce less waste.

SYNOPSIS

In a windy Somali village, a newly assembled family must navigate between their different aspirations and the complex world surrounding them. Love, trust and resilience will power them through their life paths.

FILMSTILLS

Since 2009 Mo Harawe has been in Austria where his journey as a filmmaker began.  His short films have been shown at international film festivals  and won several awards. His latest film WILL MY PARENTS COME AND SEE ME celebrated its world premiere at Berlinale 2022 and his previous film LIFE ON THE HORN received a special mention at Locarno Film Festival 2020.

His feature film script TO MOGADISHU has won the DOR FILM award at the Diagonale Film Festival in 2016. In 2019 Muhamed Harawe won the prestigious scholarship from the Federal Ministry for the Arts (BKA Startstipendium) for his debut feature film THE VILLAGE NEXT TO PARADISE that he is currently developing at Torino Script Lab.
