As part of the project, ecological and sustainable production methods were implemented based on the Green Filming guidelines of the Austrian Film Institute. With the involvement of a Green Film Consultant trained and certified by the Lower Austrian Film Commission / Evergreen Prisma Academy and Philip Gassmann, measures were taken to reduce CO2 emissions, conserve resources, and prevent waste, while CO2 emissions were recorded.
SYNOPSIS
For over fifty years, the two monks Paul and Jean-Michel have been living in the forests of southern France. Over the course of a year, the film introduces the rhythm of their monastic life: they pray, work the land, and welcome visitors. As they age, the question arises of how much longer they can continue living this way.
Cristina Yurena Sarmiento grew up between Gran Canaria and southern Germany. She studied social sciences and art in Vienna and works as a director, based in Vienna. LE DÉSERT FLEURIRA is her third feature-length documentary film.
